February 7, 2017 Sony Expands Recall of VAIO Laptop Computer Battery Packs Due to Burn and Fire Hazards (Recall Alert)

This expanded recall involves Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs installed in 18 models of Sony's VAIO Series laptop computers. Sony has expanded the number of affected battery packs under this recall. The Panasonic battery packs were manufactured with the laptop and battery packs were sold separately or installed by Sony as part of a repair. Panasonic battery packs included in this recall have model number VGP-BPS26 and part numbers 1-853-237-11 and 1-853-237-21 printed on the back of the battery pack. January 4, 2017 Toshiba Expands Recall of Laptop Computer Battery Packs Due to Burn and Fire Hazards

This expanded recall involves Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs installed in 41 models of Toshiba Satellite laptops, including the Satellite models affected by the March 2016 recall. Toshiba has expanded the number of battery packs to include those sold between June 2011 and November 2016. The battery packs also were sold separately and installed by Toshiba as part of a repair. Battery packs included in this recall have part numbers that begin with G71C (G71C*******). Part numbers are printed on the battery pack. December 13, 2016 World Trading Recalls Orbit Self-Balancing Scooters/Hoverboards Due to Fire Hazard; Sold by Evine

This recall involves Orbit brand self-balancing scooters/hoverboards. The hoverboards have two wheels at either end of a platform and are powered by lithium ion battery packs. Orbit brand hoverboards were sold in the following six colors: black, blue, gold, green, red and white. "Orbit" is printed on a black sticker on the underside of the hoverboard. Read more.


October 13, 2016 Samsung Expands Recall of Galaxy Note7 Smartphones Based on Additional Incidents with Replacement Phones; Serious Fire and Burn Hazards

This recall involves all Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphones. The recalled devices have a 5.7-inch screen and were sold in the following colors: black onyx, blue coral, gold platinum and silver titanium with a matching stylus. Samsung is printed on the top front of the phone and Galaxy Note7 is printed on the back of the phone. This recall involves all Galaxy Note7 devices received as replacements as part of the previous Galaxy Note7 recall on September 15, 2016 and any Galaxy Note 7 with a green battery icon, regardless of date purchased or IMEI. September 20, 2016 Denon Recalls Rechargeable Battery Packs Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

This recall involves Denon's HEOS 1 Go Pack lithium-ion rechargeable battery packs for wireless speakers. Only HEOS 1 Go Packs with a 10-character alpha-numeric serial number beginning with 5 or 601G91 and ending with 3517 through 4004 are included in the recall; the battery packs are black or white, hexagon-shaped and have four blue LED lights and a power button. This recall involves the Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphone sold before September 15, 2016. The recalled devices have a 5.7 inch screen and were sold in the following colors: black onyx, blue coral, gold platinum and silver titanium with a matching stylus. Samsung is printed on the top front of the phone and Galaxy Note7 is printed on the back of the phone. January 28, 2016 RNG Recalls 100-Watt Bendable Solar Panels Due to Fire Hazard (Recall Alert)

This recall involves Renogy brand 100-watt bendable solar panels. The recalled solar panels are black plastic sheets about 41 inches long by about 21 inches wide by about 1/8 inch thick. Model number RNG-100DB is on the top of the panel, either on the front or back. Read more.


November 25, 2014 Goal Zero Recalls Battery Packs Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Goal Zero's Sherpa brand 50 and 120 rechargeable battery packs that are used to charge cell phones, tablets, laptops and other devices. The battery packs can be plugged into an A/C wall outlet, a 12-volt car charger or an attachable solar panel for recharging. The lithium ion iron phosphate battery packs are silver and black. Goal Zero and Sherpa 50 or 120 are printed on one side of the battery pack. The serial number is printed on the other side. Serial numbers that start with S/N 11002 or S/N 11102 are included in the recall. Sherpa 50 battery packs with serial numbers starting with S50 are not included in this recall. Read more.


March 27, 2014 Lenovo Recalls Battery Packs for ThinkPad Notebook Computers Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Lenovo battery packs sold with the following ThinkPad notebook computers: the Edge 11, 13 and 14 series, the T410, T420, T510 and W510 series, and the X100e, X120e, X200, X201 and X201s series. The battery packs were also sold separately. The black battery packs measure between 8 to 11 inches long, 1 to 3 inches wide and about 1 inch high. Recalled battery packs have one of the following part numbers starting with the fourth digit in a long series of numbers and letters printed on a white sticker below the bar code on the battery pack: 42T4695, 42T4711, 42T4798, 42T4804, 42T4812, 42T4822, 42T4828, 42T4834, 42T4840 and 42T4890. December 9, 2013 Linear Recalls Personal Emergency Reporting System Transmitters Due to Battery Signal Failure

The recalled Linear PERS transmitters are components of Linear PERS products and allow users to push a button on the transmitter to summon assistance. Transmitter models DXS-LRC, DXS-LRC-LA, DXS-LRP and DXS-LRW manufactured from June 2013 to July 2013 with date codes 1306 and 1307 representing the year and month, and 1329 (representing the 29th week of 2013) are included in the recall. The model and date codes appear on the back of the transmitter. The DXS-LRC transmitters are gray plastic pendants with a black circle in the center and can be worn as a pendant around the neck or on a wristband. The DXS-LRP transmitter is a white pendant with a green swirl design on the front. The DXS-LRW transmitter has a solid black wristband with a black plastic face and black button in the center.
