High Lead Levels Prompt Recall of Children's Metal Jewelry By Spandrel Sales and Marketing Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.Name of product: Children's Necklaces, Bracelets and Rings
Units: About 200,000
Importer: Spandrel Sales and Marketing Inc., of Tempe, Ariz.
Hazard: The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recalled jewelry includes pendants that hang from silver-colored bracelet and necklace chains, and silver-colored rings with a charm on top. Charm shapes include silver-colored crosses, suns, moons, stars, butterflies, cupids, angels, keys, elephants, hands, cell phones, fish, and shoes.
Sold at: Vending machines located in malls, discount, department and grocery stores nationwide from February 2007 through March 2007 for 25 cents.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled rings and necklaces away from children and throw them away.
