WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: "U.S. Polo Association" Youth Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstring

Units: About 30,000

Manufacturer: Jordache Ltd., of New York, N.Y.

Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled youth hooded fleece garments have drawstrings. They were sold in a variety of colors and have "U.S. Polo Assn." written on them. A sewn-in tag also reads, "U.S. Polo Assn". The style number for these garments is 12-5169.

Sold at: JC Penney stores nationwide from September 2005 through December 2005 for about $40.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should remove or cut the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard, or return the garment to the store where purchased for a refund.
