July 22, 2008- Electra Bicycle Company Recalls Amsterdam Bicycles; Chain Can Derail and Pose Injury Risk to Riders
This recall involves some Amsterdam model bicycles in the Classic 3, Original 3, Royal 8, and Sport 3 styles. The bicycles have an enclosed chainguard. “Electra” and “Amsterdam” are printed on the bicycle’s frame and/or chainguard. Bicycles with frame numbers beginning with “F06” or “EL” or bicycles with chainguards marked “06/08” are not included in this recall. April 22, 2008- Nashbar Direct Inc. Recalls Bicycle Resistance Trainers Due to Puncture Hazard
The recalled trainers are folding stands that lift and apply resistance to the rear wheel of a standard bike, converting the bike into a stationary trainer. The recall includes Travel Trac Gravity Inertial Trainers (catalog # NB-TTMIF) with a looping black base with two red support arms. Travel Trac is printed in white on the right support arm and Millennium is printed in white on the left arm. Inertial is printed on the top of the right arm in black with a white border. The resistance unit has a rounded black plastic cover with a soft red elastomer roller. The item number is also printed on the bottom of the last page of the owner’s manual. April 22, 2008- Performance Inc. Recalls Bicycle Resistance Trainers Due to Puncture Hazard
The recalled trainers are folding stands that lift and apply resistance to the rear wheel of a standard bike, converting the bike into a stationary trainer. There are three Travel Trac (TT) models included in the recall. The TT Inertial and TT I-Force Wireless use the same stand, with a looping black base and two red bike support arms. Along the right arm is Travel Trac printed in white. “Millennium” is printed along the left arm of the stand on a vertical white decal. TT Inertial and I-Force Wireless have black horizontal decals. The TT Millennium I-Force has a collapsible black stand with Travel Trac and I-Force vertical white decals and Inertial in small red letters. The item numbers are printed on the bottom of the last page of the owner’s manual. The following models are included in the recall: February 7, 2008- Trek Recalls Girls Bicycles Due To Frame Failure
This recall involves Trek girls’ bicycles model MT220 and model years 2005 (light metallic blue), 2006 (metallic silver and metallic purple or pink and pearl white), and 2007 (pink and white pearl or metallic purple). The model name is printed on the frame of the bicycle. Model year 2008 bicycles re not included in this recall. January 8, 2008- Pacific Cycle Recalls Children's Trailer Bicycles; Can Detach from Adult Bicycle and Injure Children
The "Pathfinder,” “Run About,” and “Alley Cat” are single-wheeled, children’s bicycles that connect to an adult’s bicycle by a coupler. The recall includes model numbers: 12-PF250, 13-SC250, 13-SC350 and M5101. The model number is located on the lower seat tube of the frame. The affected couplers have welded plates; bicycles that have couplers with cast parts are not included in this recall. January 8, 2008- Cannondale Recalls Scalpel Mountain Bikes; Frame Failure Poses Crash Hazard
The 2008 model year Scalpel is a cross-country racing mountain bike, made from carbon fiber and aluminum. They were sold in Black/White, Blue/Black and Black. The recall includes the following models: December 18, 2007- Bicycle Helmets Recalled by Specialized Due to Failing Helmet Standard
This recall involves the Specialized helmets, model 2D. Model “2D” is printed on the sides of the helmet in the rear. The helmets were sold for men and women in matte black, white, silver, blue, pink, and team colors. October 23, 2007- Reynolds Recalls Bicycle Forks Due to Fall Hazard
This recall involves the Reynolds UL bicycle fork models with 43 mm and 50 mm rakes and with serial numbers 09100 through 10403. The serial number decal is located on the steer tube. To see the serial number, the fork must be removed from the frame. Some recalled forks are black, have “Reynolds” printed on them, and have a gray and white stripe painted on the legs of the fork. Other recalled forks were painted with a different paint scheme and do not have “Reynolds” printed on them. To determine if a fork is included in this recall, consumers should contact the company. October 16, 2007- Huffy Recalls Bicycles Due To Cranks Falling Off; Riders Can Lose Control of Bike
The recall involves 2007 model year, multi-speed bicycles with 26-inch, 24-inch or 20-inch wheels. The “Howler” was sold in black (model K3587, boy’s model), blue (model K4587, men’s model), and red (model K6587, men’s model). The “Highland” was sold in white (model K4597, women’s model) and blue (model K6597, women’s model). The name "Howler" or "Highland" is printed on the frame of the bicycle, and the name "Huffy" is on the front of the frame. Model numbers are located on a label on the bottom of the frame where the crank is attached to the bicycle. |
