Recall: Hed Cycling Recalls Bicycle Rims Due to Crash Hazard (Recall Alert)

Description: This recall involves Ardennes Black and Jet Black rims manufactured between January 1, 2016 and March 15, 2016. Serial numbers beginning with 0116, 0216 or 0316 are printed near the valve hole on the rim.

Units: About 380 units

Hazard: The rims can cause the brake pads to wear out unexpectedly, posing a crash hazard to the rider.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled rims and contact HED Cycling for replacement instructions.

Recall date: May 25, 2016

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received six reports of accelerated brake pad wear. No injuries have been reported.

Sold At: Authorized Hed dealers nationwide and online from January 2016 to March 2016 for between $700 for an individual wheel and $2,400 for a set of wheels.
