August 16, 2017 FedEx Supply Chain Recalls Cellphone Batteries That Could Lead to Fire and Burn Hazards (Recall Alert)

This recall involves batteries placed into refurbished AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cellphones by FedEx Supply Chain and distributed as replacement phones through AT&T's Insurance program only. FedEx and Samsung have determined that some of the recalled batteries are counterfeit and show anomalies that can lead the batteries to overheat. The batteries are non-OEM, which means they were not supplied as original equipment by the phone's manufacturer, Samsung. Read more.


July 24, 2017 iRover Recalls Self-Balancing Scooters/Hoverboards Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves iRover self-balancing scooters, commonly referred to as hoverboards, model numbers 87645 and 87644. Hoverboards have two wheels at either end of a platform and are powered by lithium-ion battery packs. The boards have "iRover" printed on the front outer casing and come in black and white. The model number is listed on the bottom of the unit. Read more.


May 5, 2017 Segway Reannounces Recall of Off-Board Chargers for Segway Personal Transporters Due to Shock Hazard (Recall Alert)

This recall involves Segway PT Off-Board Chargers manufactured from January 2015 to October 2016 with part number 23288-00001. The chargers are black, box-shaped and measure 8 inches wide by 13.75 inches deep by 4 inches high. Two wires used to connect the unit to Segway PT batteries extend from one end. The Segway brand name is on the charger above these wires. Chargers with the following serial numbers are included in the recall: 15201C000362, 15201C000364, 15201C000366, 15208C000404, 15208C000406, 15222C000460, 15225C000486, 15225C000489, 15225C000494, 15242C000546, 16210C000621, 16210C000629, 16210C000630, 16210C000631, 16210C000632, 16210C000635, 16210C000636, 16214C000638, 16214C000639, 16214C000641, 16214C000642, 16214C000643, 16214C000645 and 16214C000646. The serial number and part number are on a silver data plate attached to the bottom of the charger. Read more.


March 23, 2017 Power Adapters Sold with LectroFan Sound Machines Recalled by ASTI Due to Shock Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Amazon.com (Recall Alert)

This recall involves power adapters sold with LectroFan sound machines. The adapter has "ASTI AC Adapter" and model number XHY050050UCC printed on the side. The LectroFans were black or white with a matching black or white power adapter. The LectroFan machines have a serial number between 3 551615 528640 and 3 551615 618639 or between 3 551636 000010 and 3 551636 285179. The serial number is printed on a label on the bottom of the machine and "LectroFan" is printed on the front. The LectroFan Sound Machine has 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds. Read more.


March 23, 2017 Vecaro LifeStyle Recalls Self-Balancing Scooters/Hoverboards Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves the Vecaro brand Glide65, Drift8, and Trek10 self-balancing scooter, commonly referred to as hoverboards. Hoverboards have one wheel at each end of a platform and are powered by lithium-ion battery packs. The boards have "Vecaro" printed on the front outer casing and come in black, white, red, blue, metallic gold, metallic silver, graffiti white print, and red flame print. The model number is on the right for both the Glide65 and Drift8. The Trek10 model number is on top of the board. Read more.


March 14, 2017 Battery Chargers for XBOX ONE Video Game Controllers Recalled by Performance Designed Products Due to Burn Hazard

This recall involves Energizer® XBOX ONE 2X Smart Chargers used to charge XBOX ONE video game controllers. The chargers are black plastic and measure about 3.5 inches long, 5 inches wide and 11 inches tall. "Energizer®" is printed on the charger's label. Item number 048-052-NA is printed on the bottom of the chargers. The chargers hold up to two XBOX controllers. Read more.


February 7, 2017 Sony Expands Recall of VAIO Laptop Computer Battery Packs Due to Burn and Fire Hazards (Recall Alert)

This expanded recall involves Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs installed in 18 models of Sony's VAIO Series laptop computers. Sony has expanded the number of affected battery packs under this recall. The Panasonic battery packs were manufactured with the laptop and battery packs were sold separately or installed by Sony as part of a repair. Panasonic battery packs included in this recall have model number VGP-BPS26 and part numbers 1-853-237-11 and 1-853-237-21 printed on the back of the battery pack. January 4, 2017 Toshiba Expands Recall of Laptop Computer Battery Packs Due to Burn and Fire Hazards

This expanded recall involves Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs installed in 41 models of Toshiba Satellite laptops, including the Satellite models affected by the March 2016 recall. Toshiba has expanded the number of battery packs to include those sold between June 2011 and November 2016. The battery packs also were sold separately and installed by Toshiba as part of a repair. Battery packs included in this recall have part numbers that begin with G71C (G71C*******). Part numbers are printed on the battery pack.
