CPSC, Byer of Maine Announce Recall to Exchange TriLite Stools
The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: The TriLite Stool
Units: About 7,800
Manufacturer: The Byer Manufacturing Company, of Orono, Maine
Hazard: The legs of the stool can bend and the stools may collapse when used on smooth hard floor surfaces.
Incidents/Injuries: Several stool collapses reported by retailers. No injuries have been reported.
Description: This recall includes Byer of Maine TriLite Stools shipped between February 19, 2004 and June 16, 2004. The affected stools are only those that have been produced in China, specifically those that bear the Byer of Maine logo screen printed in silver ink on the plastic leg hub (see image below).
Sold at: Various retail stores across the United States for approximately $18.00.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers will be supplied with replacement stools on a two for one basis. Contact Byer of Maine to arrange for replacement.
