July 24, 2014 Metabo Recalls Electric Angle Grinders Due to Laceration Hazard

This recall involves Metabo W14-150 Ergo series 6-inch medium angle grinders. The angle grinders have a green body, a black and red handle, and a silver head and wheel guard. The grinders measure about 16 inches long by 4 inches wide by 5 inches deep, have a 6-inch wheel capacity and weigh about eight pounds. Metabo is printed on the handle and Metabo 14-150 Ergo is printed on the side of the grinder. The grinders are used for grinding and cutting metal. Model numbers include 06251421 and 06251441 and serial numbers include 3010000001 through 4020031488 for both models. The model and serial numbers are located on the rating plate on the right side of the tool. Read more.


July 2, 2014 Porter-Cable Fixed-Base Production Routers Recalled Due to Electrical Shock Hazard

Four Porter-Cable 3 1/4 horsepower, electric, fixed-base production routers and one production router base are being recalled. The recalled routers are about 11 inches tall and 7 inches wide. The top of the router motor is black plastic and has the on/off switch for the router. The base is painted gray and has two side handles, an adjuster ring on the top and a clamp screw on the rear. The side handles on the base of recalled routers have no insulation. The Porter-Cable name and logo are on the front of the base. The recalled routers and base were manufactured from 1990 to April 2014. The following router models are being recalled: Model Number Speed/Feature 7518 5-speed 7519 1-speed 7519EC 1-speed/has an extended chuck 22-7519-60 1-speed/ uses 220-volt power source The router model number and the manufacture date code are on a metal plate on the back of the upper motor housing. The date code consists of the year of manufacture, the week of manufacture and the manufacturing plant code in the YYYY WW-XX format. The router base is model number 75361 and is also sold separately. The model number is located on the side of the base opposite the Porter-Cable label. Read more.


June 26, 2014 Wolf Steel Recalls Napoleon Propane Gas Fireplaces Due to Laceration Hazard

This recall involves the GD3200-P flush glass front and GD3200B-P with a bay window, propane gas fireplaces. The fireplaces are black and approximately 33 inches tall and 31.25 inches wide with gold accent designs on the top and bottom of the outside of the product. The model number GD3200-P and GD3200B-P can be found in the center of the rating label. The rating label is located on the base of the fireplace behind the lower louvered access door. Read more.


June 24, 2014 Trane Recalls Air Conditioning Systems Due to Shock Hazard (Recall Alert)

This recall involves 37 models of Trane XB300 and American Standard brand Silver SI split system outdoor cooling units. The units are gray and have a black grated front. The units were sold in two sizes: 25.5 inches deep by 23.5 inches wide by 28.83 inches tall and 28.83 inches deep by 28.48 inches wide by 29.28 inches tall. The Trane or American Standard logo is affixed to the front and model numbers are printed on the silver nameplate on the back of the unit. June 12, 2014 Hitachi Koki Recalls Pneumatic Nailers Due to Injury Hazards

This recall involves two models of Hitachi Koki 3 ¼ inch strip pneumatic nailers with depth adjustment. Affected model numbers are NR83A2(Y) and NR83A3. Model numbers are located on a label attached to the side of the nailers and on the outside of the box containing the product. The manufacturing date can be identified by the serial number engraved at the end of the handle on the nailer. Model number NR83A2(Y) has serial numbers which start with QD2, QN2 QO2, Q13, Q23, Q33, Q43, Q52, Q53, Q62, Q72, Q82 and Q92. Model number NR83A3 has serial numbers which start with QD3, QN3, QO3, Q14, Q24, Q34, Q63, Q73, Q83 and Q93. Units with a letter "R" decal next to the model number and an engraved "R" near the serial number are not included in this product recall. Read more.


June 10, 2014 Weil-McLain Recalls Ultra Series Boilers Due to Risk of Fire, Explosion

This recall involves Weil-McLain Ultra models 80, 105, 155 and 230 MBH gas-fired boilers used for space heating. The boilers have a serial number range between CP 6557046 and CP 6955985. Model and serial numbers are located on a bar-coded label affixed to the lower right side of the boiler, behind the removable front panel. The boilers have a Weil-McLain logo plate affixed to the front, a pewter/flat black cover and are either freestanding or wall-mounted. Read more.


June 4, 2014 Mirka Recalls Compact Electric Random Orbital Sanders Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves 5-inch and 6-inch Mirka CEROS compact electric random orbital sanders. The sanders are yellow and black with the Mirka logo on the front. A speed control lever is on the top of the sanders and a vacuum hose connector on the rear. The recalled sanders came with a carrying case, a 12-foot power cord, a DC transformer, a wrench, a multi-hole backup pad and assorted abrasives. The 5-inch sander is model CEROS 550. The 6-inch sander is model CEROS 650. Model names are on a white sticker on the back of the sander housing beneath the hand grip. Serial numbers are engraved on the side of the sander housing just above the dust shroud. May 29, 2014 Sunbeam Recalls Holmes Ceramic Heaters Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Holmes oscillating ceramic heaters sold in black, purple, red, blue and white. The rectangular heaters included in the recall are about 12 inches tall, 8 ½ inches wide and 5 ½ inches deep and have model number HCH1823M printed on a label on the bottom of the product. The "Holmes" logo is on the bottom front of the unit and two knobs controlling the fan and the thermostat are on the top. The heater adjusts between a high and low heat setting and a fan only setting. Read more.


May 21, 2014 Nest Labs Recalls to Repair Nest Protect Smoke + CO Alarms Due to Failure to Sound Alert

This recall includes all Nest Protect Smoke + CO alarms. The alarms are made of black or white plastic and are about 5.25 inches square with rounded corners and about 1.5 inches deep. The word "nest" is on a large button on the face of the alarm. Consumers can enable the alarms to be controlled by a computer or a smartphone over a wireless network. The alarms have a Nest Wave feature, which allows users to temporarily silence some alerts or cancel a manual test by vigorously waving an arm near the unit that triggered the alarm. Nest Protect Smoke + CO alarms came from the factory with the Nest Wave feature enabled and with the slider button in the "On" position in Nest Protect Settings. Read more.


May 13, 2014 Paramount Recalls Trident Ultraviolet Sanitation Systems for Pools Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves all Paramount Trident Series 2 (UV II) ultraviolet sanitation systems. The sanitation systems are a gray tube that stands 32 inches high by 11 inches in diameter. They are plumbed into the pool's water circulation pipes and plugged in or hard-wired into an electrical system. The pool's water runs through the unit and is sanitized by ultraviolet lamps. This is a secondary sanitation system used in conjunction with chemical sanitizers such as chlorine or bromine. "Trident UV II" or "Series 2 Trident Ultraviolet Corporation UV Sanitation System" is printed on a black label on the front of the units. In addition, a silver sticker on the units has the following wording "Paramount Series 2 Ultraviolet Pool Sanitizer System," "Trident Series 2 Ultraviolet Water Treatment System" or "Trident Ultra UV Series 2 Water Treatment System" and a date code of 9/9/2013 or later.
