Snap Beads Recalled By Edushape Due to Choking Hazard
The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Snap Beads
Units: About 40 units
Distributor: Edushape Ltd., of Deer Park, N.Y.
Manufacturer: Xiamen Xinlu Machinery Co., Ltd., China
Hazard: The tip of the snap bead peg may break off under repetitive pressure, posing a choking hazard to small children.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recalled product is multicolor and textured soft plastic beads that are designed to connect to one another. The beads are packaged in a 6” x 6” x 8” clear plastic jar with a photo of a child playing with the beads on the label. The word “Edushape” is written on the label in green and red.
Sold at: Various retail stores and online from July 2009 to September 2009 for about $20.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the snap beads and contact Edushape for a replacement set.
