CPSC, Firms Announce Recall of Backpack Blowers and Cigarette Lighters

- Backpack Blowers Recalled by Kawasaki Motors Corp.
In cooperation with the CPSC, Star Garden Supply Inc., of Pico Rivera, Calif., and TMC Power Equipment Inc., of Monterey Park, Calif., Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A., of Irvine, Calif. is voluntarily recalling about 3,000 ASTRON and TMC backpack blowers. The engine exhaust can emit flames, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
- Cigarette Lighters Recalled by DFS Group Ltd.
In cooperation with the CPSC, DFS Group Ltd., of San Francisco, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 65,000 cigarette lighters packaged in souvenir sets with ashtrays, pencils or pens. The lighters do not have child-resistant mechanisms. Young children can easily ignite the lighters, presenting fire and burn hazards.
