Home Decorators Collection Recalls Storage Trunks Due to Entrapment and Suffocation HazardsWASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.Name of product: Home Decorators Collection Leather Suitcase Trunks Units: About 500 Distributor: Home Decorators Collection, of St. Louis, Mo. Hazard: The trunk has an exterior clasp that can lock unexpectedly when the trunk lid closes. If a child climbs inside the trunk, he/she may not be able to open the trunk from the inside. This poses an entrapment and suffocation hazard to children. Incidents/Injuries: None reported. Description: The recalled trunks are leather bound and have a handle on each side, and a clasp on the front. The trunks are burgundy or brown and are sold in three sizes: small, medium and large. Sold at: Home Decorators Collection retail stores nationwide, catalogs, and online at www.homedecorators.com from January 2006 through November 2006 for between $60 and $190. Manufactured in: China Remedy: Customers should stop using the trunk immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
