June 12, 2014 Hitachi Koki Recalls Pneumatic Nailers Due to Injury Hazards

This recall involves two models of Hitachi Koki 3 ¼ inch strip pneumatic nailers with depth adjustment. Affected model numbers are NR83A2(Y) and NR83A3. Model numbers are located on a label attached to the side of the nailers and on the outside of the box containing the product. The manufacturing date can be identified by the serial number engraved at the end of the handle on the nailer. Model number NR83A2(Y) has serial numbers which start with QD2, QN2 QO2, Q13, Q23, Q33, Q43, Q52, Q53, Q62, Q72, Q82 and Q92. Model number NR83A3 has serial numbers which start with QD3, QN3, QO3, Q14, Q24, Q34, Q63, Q73, Q83 and Q93. Units with a letter "R" decal next to the model number and an engraved "R" near the serial number are not included in this product recall. Read more.


June 10, 2014 Weil-McLain Recalls Ultra Series Boilers Due to Risk of Fire, Explosion

This recall involves Weil-McLain Ultra models 80, 105, 155 and 230 MBH gas-fired boilers used for space heating. The boilers have a serial number range between CP 6557046 and CP 6955985. Model and serial numbers are located on a bar-coded label affixed to the lower right side of the boiler, behind the removable front panel. The boilers have a Weil-McLain logo plate affixed to the front, a pewter/flat black cover and are either freestanding or wall-mounted. Read more.


June 4, 2014 Mirka Recalls Compact Electric Random Orbital Sanders Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves 5-inch and 6-inch Mirka CEROS compact electric random orbital sanders. The sanders are yellow and black with the Mirka logo on the front. A speed control lever is on the top of the sanders and a vacuum hose connector on the rear. The recalled sanders came with a carrying case, a 12-foot power cord, a DC transformer, a wrench, a multi-hole backup pad and assorted abrasives. The 5-inch sander is model CEROS 550. The 6-inch sander is model CEROS 650. Model names are on a white sticker on the back of the sander housing beneath the hand grip. Serial numbers are engraved on the side of the sander housing just above the dust shroud. May 29, 2014 Sunbeam Recalls Holmes Ceramic Heaters Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Holmes oscillating ceramic heaters sold in black, purple, red, blue and white. The rectangular heaters included in the recall are about 12 inches tall, 8 ½ inches wide and 5 ½ inches deep and have model number HCH1823M printed on a label on the bottom of the product. The "Holmes" logo is on the bottom front of the unit and two knobs controlling the fan and the thermostat are on the top. The heater adjusts between a high and low heat setting and a fan only setting. Read more.


May 21, 2014 Nest Labs Recalls to Repair Nest Protect Smoke + CO Alarms Due to Failure to Sound Alert

This recall includes all Nest Protect Smoke + CO alarms. The alarms are made of black or white plastic and are about 5.25 inches square with rounded corners and about 1.5 inches deep. The word "nest" is on a large button on the face of the alarm. Consumers can enable the alarms to be controlled by a computer or a smartphone over a wireless network. The alarms have a Nest Wave feature, which allows users to temporarily silence some alerts or cancel a manual test by vigorously waving an arm near the unit that triggered the alarm. Nest Protect Smoke + CO alarms came from the factory with the Nest Wave feature enabled and with the slider button in the "On" position in Nest Protect Settings. Read more.


May 13, 2014 Paramount Recalls Trident Ultraviolet Sanitation Systems for Pools Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves all Paramount Trident Series 2 (UV II) ultraviolet sanitation systems. The sanitation systems are a gray tube that stands 32 inches high by 11 inches in diameter. They are plumbed into the pool's water circulation pipes and plugged in or hard-wired into an electrical system. The pool's water runs through the unit and is sanitized by ultraviolet lamps. This is a secondary sanitation system used in conjunction with chemical sanitizers such as chlorine or bromine. "Trident UV II" or "Series 2 Trident Ultraviolet Corporation UV Sanitation System" is printed on a black label on the front of the units. In addition, a silver sticker on the units has the following wording "Paramount Series 2 Ultraviolet Pool Sanitizer System," "Trident Series 2 Ultraviolet Water Treatment System" or "Trident Ultra UV Series 2 Water Treatment System" and a date code of 9/9/2013 or later. Some date codes consist of a series of letters. Consumers with letters in the date code need to go to www.1paramount.com to determine if their unit is included in the recall. Read more.


April 30, 2014 White-Rodgers Recalls Home Heating and Cooling Thermostats Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves four models of White-Rodgers digital thermostats. The thermostats are white with blue lighted screens and have one of the following names printed on the front of them: "COMFORTSENTRY," "DICO," "Emerson," "Frigidaire," "Maytag," "Nutone," "Partners Choice," "Rheem," "Ruud," "Unico," "Water Furnace," "Westinghouse," "White-Rodgers" or "Zonefirst." The thermostats have a battery door on the top left corner. There are three or four buttons to the right and also below the thermostat screen. Recalled thermostats do not show a battery icon on the left side of the blue lighted screen. Read more.


April 29, 2014 GE Brand Dehumidifiers by Midea Recalled for Repair Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Walmart

This recall involves 30-pint portable GE brand dehumidifiers. The dehumidifiers are white plastic and measure about 19 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 9 inches deep with a front-loading water bucket. "GE" and digital controls are located on top of the dehumidifier. Model, serial and manufacture dates are located on a label on the back of the dehumidifier. April 10, 2014 Whalen Recalls Stainless Steel Tool Chests Due to Laceration Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Costco (Recall Alert)

The recalled tool chests are about 72 inches long, 37½ inches high and 19 inches deep. They are made of stainless steel with a 1½-inch thick wooden block top and with ten storage drawers on the left and center in a variety of heights. The right side has a cabinet with shelves and peg board to hang tools on the inside of the door. The chest stands on swivel caster wheels and has handles on each end that can be used to move the unit. April 4, 2014 Hussong Manufacturing and American Flame Recall Three Gas Fireplaces, Fireplace Inserts Due to Explosion Hazard

This recall involves Hussong Manufacturing direct vent gas fireplaces and gas fireplace inserts that use American Flame brand main control modules. There are 22 models sold under the brand names Kozy Heat Fireplaces, Ambiance Fireplaces and Stellar Hearth Products. They were manufactured between October 2009 and April 2013. The fireplace name, model number, manufacture date and serial number are on a silver testing label attached by a chain and next to the gas valve.
