CPSC, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. Announce Recall of Full Moon Lantern

The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Full Moon Lantern set

Units: About 1,700 sets (2 lanterns per set)

Retailer: Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. of New York, NY

Hazard: The lantern can overheat and melt or ignite, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. has received 11 consumer complaints including reports of overheating, melting and fire. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recall involves Full Moon Lanterns sold by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. The lanterns were sold in the following three different Halloween themes: Bat (Model # XPM 012A), Flying Witch (Model # XPM 012B), and Jack O-Lantern (Model # XPM 012C).

Sold by: Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. sold the recalled Full Moon Lanterns through its on-line and print catalog, "Martha Stewart: The Catalog for Living," from September 1, 2004 through October 31, 2004 at $19 for a set of two lanterns.

Manufactured In: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled lamps immediately. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. is directly contacting all affected consumers to arrange for a full refund.
