Full-Body Safety Harnesses Recalled for Fall Hazard WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Safety Harnesses Sold with Hunting Tree Stands Units: About 106,000 Distributor: Summit Treestands LLC, of Decatur, Ala. Hazard: The harnesses could fail during use, resulting in consumers falling from tree stands and suffering serious injuries or death. Incidents/Injuries: None reported. Description and Models: The harnesses are tan or light brown and were sold as an accessory with the following tree stands or ladders: Viper X5, Goliath X5, Razor X5, Summit 180 o, Bushmaster X5, Broadhead Backpacker, Bullet Backpacker, Clearshot, Openshot, and MegaSampson. Only harnesses with "Manufactured in 2005," and "Made in China" printed on a label on the harness tether are included in this recall. Sold at: Sporting goods stores nationwide from June 2005 through May 2006 for between $200 and $300 for the tree stand including the harness. Manufactured In: China Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled harnesses and contact the firm for a free replacement harness. June 7, 2006 Endurance Treadmills Recalled for Unexpected Speed Changes Posing Fall Hazard

The recall includes the T7, T7.1, T8 and T9.1 models of the Endurance Treadmills. The treadmills are black and silver. The model number is located along the side of the running surface near the end of the treadmill. Consumers should check the serial number, located on the front lower shroud of the treadmill along the vertical surface on a white sticker, and contact the company to confirm their treadmill is included in the recall. June 7, 2006 Fitness Quest Gazelle Freestyle Crosstrainers and Crosstrainer Pro Gliders Recalled for Fall Hazard

Gazelle® Freestyle Crosstrainer and Crosstrainer Pro exercisers are "glider-style" exercise equipment. The user moves two foot platforms in a striding motion back and forth while grasping handlebars attached to the platforms. The model name "Gazelle Freestyle Cross Trainer" or "Gazelle Freestyle Cross Trainer Pro" is printed on the side of each product's frame. Read more.


May 23, 2006 Arctic Cat Inc. Announces Recall of Off-Highway Utility Vehicles

The Prowler XT was produced in three colors: Green, Cat Green and Red. The vehicles have the words "Arctic Cat" printed on each side of the cargo box and the name "Prowler XT" centered on the front of the hood. The affected units are all 2006 Prowler XT vehicles with VIN range of 4UF06MPVO6T300001 through 4UF06MPV16T302369. The VIN is located on the rear upper-frame tube of the vehicle near the rear of the cargo box, and on the registration materials the consumer received at the time of purchase. Consumers need only refer to the last six digits of the VIN to determine if the vehicle is included in this recall. The following model numbers are included in this recall. Name of Product: Ameristep Patriot and Outfitter Hang-on Tree Stands Units: About 6,700 Manufacturer: Primal Vantage Company Inc., of Randolph, N.J. Distributor: Ameristep Inc., of Clio, Mich. Hazard: The j-hook attachment of the tree strap can fail, which can cause the tree stand to collapse. Consumers using these stands could fall and suffer serious injuries or death. Incidents/Injuries: Primal Vantage Company Inc. has received three reports of j-hook failures. No injuries have been reported. Description: The recall involves two models of tree stands: the Ameristep Patriot Hang-On Tree Stand has model number 7300, and the Outfitter Hang-On Tree Stand has model number 7310. These products are fixed-position, strap-on tree stands. The UPC number of the model 7300 is 769524703001. The UPC number of model 7310 is 769524703100. The model number and UPC are not written on the tree stands, but can be found on the packaging. May 18, 2006 Rainbow Play Systems Recalls Swing Seats for Fall Hazard

The recall involves sling swing seats sold as an accessory with Carnival, Sunshine, and Rainbow Series residential play structures manufactured by Rainbow Play Systems, Inc. The seats are about 25 inches in length and were sold in red, yellow, blue and green with 64-inch yellow or green dipped chains. The seats have pointed ends with three black dots and black grommets. May 17, 2006 Aqua-Leisure Industries Recalls Inflatable Pool Ladders for Fall Hazard

The ladders were included with Aqua® Leisure Simple-Set® inflatable pools that range from 12- to 18-feet in diameter. The white metal arched ladders have two, three or four plastic blue steps on each side of the arch with two blue cross bars just above the top step. White plastic and metal clips are used to connect the steps to the ladder. Each step is molded with the words "Aqua® Leisure." Read more.

May 4, 2006 Trek Recalls Anthem C Elite Bicycle Helmets for Failing Impact Standards

The recalled helmets are identified by the model name Anthem C Elite and Anthem C Elite WSD. A label inside the helmet identifies the helmet as "Trek Anthem C." The helmets are available in men's sizes in black/charcoal, blue/silver and blue/red, and in women's sizes in aqua blue/silver and white/silver. This recall includes all sizes of this helmet.
