September 18, 2008 Safety Alert: Petzl America Warns of Burn Hazard from Headlamps; Product Should Only Be Used with Non-Rechargeable Batteries

This safety alert involves the “MYO” and “MYO Belt” headlamps with name and model numbers listed below. The “MYO” headlamps have a battery pack attached to the headband. The “MYO Belt” headlamps have a remote battery pack attached to the headlamp via a long electric cable. Read more.


October 4, 2007 Eveready Battery Co. Recalls Toy Flashlights Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

The recall involves “Pirates of the Caribbean” medallion squeeze lights, which is gold-colored and about 1¾-inches across. It is attached to a leather strap and metal clasp. Read more.


August 29, 2007 Sam's Club Recalls Outdoor Torch Lamps Due to Fire, Burn and Laceration Hazards

The recalled oil torch lamp is 6-feet tall with a green, bowl-shaped, ceramic open-flame lamp that is attached to a brown cast iron pole and stand. A flame snuffer is attached to the lamp by a chain. The lamp and pole can be disconnected from the base and the pole placed directly in the ground. The product was sold as a set of four torches. Read more.


July 17, 2007 Sportsman's Warehouse Recalls Flashlights; Counterfeit Batteries Can Overheat, Posing a Fire Hazard

The recall involves High Intensity Xenon Aluminum Flashlights in 6-volt (Item No. 1139422), 9-volt (Item No. 1139423) and 12-volt (Item No. 1139424) models. The recalled flashlights are black and have the Sportsman's Warehouse logo printed on the handle. The recalled flashlights were packaged with two, three or four batteries labeled as "Panasonic CR123A Industrial Lithium". Read more.


April 24, 2007 iObjectSolutions Inc. Recalls Pre-Lit Palm Trees Due to Shock, Fire Hazards

The recall involves four sizes of pre-lit Palm trees. There is a 7-foot Lighted Palm and a 7-foot Lighted Palm Tree with Coconuts, a 5-foot Lighted Palm Tree with Coconuts, a 4.5-foot Lighted Palm Tree, and a 2.5-foot Lighted Palm Tree. These palm trees are lit by rope lights. The tree trunks have golden-colored rope wrapped in a spiral. The palm leaves are lined along the edge with green rope lights. Read more.


October 25, 2006 Streetlights Recalled by Beacon Products Due to Injury Hazard to Passersby

The pendant-style outdoor lighting fixtures were installed by municipalities and developers as subdivision and/or downtown urban streetlights. The lighting fixtures typically appear along sidewalks and smaller avenues. They are made of aluminum and sold in various colors. Some have glass covers. Recalled models include "Cambridge," "Capital," "Coal Miner," Depot," "F-10 Fitter," "F-13 Fitter," "F-21 Fitter," "F-35 Fitter," "Kings Park," "Magna," "Maritas," "Miramar," "Metropolis," "Neptune," "Pierwalk," "Radial Wave" and "Tivoli." March 1, 2006 The Little Tikes Co. Recalls Animal-Shaped Flashlights Containing Lead Paint Sold at Target

The Glowin' Dino Flashlight and the Glowin' Doggy Flashlight are about 9-inches long and make an electronic sound when switched on. The green dinosaur roars, and the white and brown dog barks. Only flashlights with the following date codes are in included in the recall: LC5H161, LC5H291, LC5I031, LC5I091, LC5I131, LC5J061, LC5J231, and LC5J311. The date codes are found on the bottom of the flashlights. Units that do not contain these codes or other animal flashlight characters made by The Little Tikes Co. are not included in this recall. Also, units that have an "R" at the end of the date code are not included in the recall. Read more.


January 24, 2006 L.L. Bean Recall of Safety Kits

Each kit contains a variety of safety equipment including a "Forever Flashlight," which does not use batteries. Shaking the flashlight for 30 seconds provides about 5 minutes of light. The Outdoorsman in a Bottle kit contains a compass. Other items which could be included in the kits include gloves, a blanket, emergency vest, a water bottle, a rain poncho and a knife. L.L. July 19, 2005 Lamplight Farms Inc. Recall of Tiki® Cone Metal Torches Sold at Wal-Mart

The recalled Tiki® Cone Metal Torch is a 6-foot long, outdoor, open-flame lamp consisting of a black metal pole topped by a copper-colored, cone-shaped metal head. A black decorative rod spirals around the head of the torch. The torch head includes the fuel reservoir, cover and wick. It was sold under Lamplight Farms model numbers 1263 and 126301 and Wal-Mart item numbers 1656121 and 1691366. Both items were sold with the same UPC number 086861012635, which is located on the bottom of the printed hangtag. Read more.
