December 18, 2012 Catalina Outdoor Fireplace Recalled by Christmas Tree Shops Due to Burn and Laceration Hazard

The Catalina Outdoor Fireplace is free standing and constructed of glass and black metal. The 21 1/4 in. square base sits on short legs. Black corner pieces hold the glass sides with one hinged side to add logs. It has a square, vented top lid and stands about 30" tall. December 4, 2012 Gas Fireplace Inserts Recalled by Jotul North America Due to Electrical Shock and Burn Hazards

This recall involves four models of Jotul and Scan brand gas fireplace inserts. These inserts fit into existing vented fireplaces providing a variety of fireplace effects fueled by natural gas or liquid propane. The fireplace inserts are cast iron or steel and have a glass front, ceramic fiber logs, a gas burner and an electrical cord. They measure about 17 inches by 32 inches. November 8, 2012 Fireplaces and Inserts Recalled by Monessen Hearth Systems Due to Risk of Fire

This recall involves electronically controlled Majestic, Monessen and Vermont Castings direct-vent and B-vent gas fireplaces and inserts. Models included in the recall have serial numbers range from 11-X-027322 to 11-X-031501; 12-X-000275 to 12-X-015206, 11-P-032597 to 11-P-059389; and 12-P-000202 to 12-P-037583. The first two digits represent the year of manufacture, the letter represents the facility and the last six digits are sequential numbers, randomly selected. This recall involves direct vent gas fireplaces sold under the name "Skyline Marquis collection." They run on propane gas. The following model numbers are being recalled. The model number is on the rating plate located on the bottom of the fireplace near the valve control. Read more.


March 10, 2011 Wall Mount Fireplaces Recalled by Southern Enterprises Due to Fire and Fall Hazards; Sold Exclusively by Home Shopping Network

This recall involves Colin Cowie dual-positioning, wood wall-mount, gel-fuel fireplace with item No. 955-074. The wooden wall mount fireplace has an espresso-colored finish with copper, silver or antique gold finished metal trim. It may be hung in a horizontal or vertical position. This recall involves units manufactured in July 2010. Lot number SEI/07/001 can be found on a label on the rear of the unit in the upper right hand corner when horizontal. Read more.


March 8, 2011 Sunjoy Industries Recalls Outdoor Wood Burning Fireplaces Sold Exclusively at Lowe's Stores Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves "Garden Treasures Living" steel outdoor fireplaces with a bronze finish chimney and slate colored accents. The wood burning fireplace is approximately 24 inches deep by 35 inches wide and 57 inches tall, has two glass doors and a tile back inside. Item number 0027705 and model number L-OF082PST-3 are printed on the front page of the product's instruction manual. No other "Garden Treasures Living" brand outdoor fireplaces are included in this recall. Read more.


March 1, 2011 Lennox Hearth Products Recalls Natural Gas Log Set Burner Assemblies Due to Risk of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

This recall involves gas burners sold with Lennox brand Shadowdance natural gas log set burner assemblies. The product is used in a wood-burning fireplace or a ventless firebox enclosure. The assemblies were sold under model numbers LSVFSD-18, LSVFSD-24 and LSVFSD-30, and include a burner and ceramic-fiber log set. Replacement gas burners also were sold separately under model number LSVFSD-NG. Burners included in this recall have serial numbers that begin with 6407, 6408, 6409 and 6410A through 6410G. The burner's model and serial numbers are printed on a metal identification plate attached to the burner. Read more.


April 1, 2010 Agio International Recalls Outdoor Gas Fire Columns Sold Exclusively at Costco Due to Fire Hazard

The recalled product is a propane gas fire column used for outdoor ambiance. The base of the column is rectangular with brick styling. The top has a bowl shape with lava rocks. This unit does not include ceramic logs. Only products with serial numbers running sequentially from 0081959SD through 0087754SD are affected. The model number GFP207 and the serial number is printed on a label that is located inside the door on the base. Read more.


March 25, 2010 Lennox Hearth Products Recalls Vent-Free Gas Logs and Fireplaces Due to Gas Leak and Fire Hazards

The recalled products are Lennox Superior brand VFGL Log Sets and VF4000, VF5000 and VF6000 fireplaces. Log sets are comprised of ceramic-fiber logs with a dual gas burner system and are designed to be placed in a wood-burning fireplace or a ventless firebox enclosure. Fireplaces are comprised of log sets, a ventless firebox enclosure and accessories. March 23, 2010 Simpson Dura-Vent Recalls Fireplace Dampers Due to Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hazard

This recall involves DuraTech Anchor Plates with Dampers and DuraChimney II Anchor Plates with Dampers. The products are intended for use as a starter section for chimneys in fireplace applications. The dampers allow the chimney to be closed when the fireplace is not in use. Each damper is a short sheet metal vent pipe fitted with a circular damper plate within the vent pipe, and attached to a square anchor plate. The damper plate rotates around an axis rod to control the flow of air through the vent pipe. The damper plates have a weight attached to one side, and a chain attached to the other side. When installed in a fireplace application, the square anchor plate is generally not visible. Read more.
