April 30, 2014 White-Rodgers Recalls Home Heating and Cooling Thermostats Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves four models of White-Rodgers digital thermostats. The thermostats are white with blue lighted screens and have one of the following names printed on the front of them: "COMFORTSENTRY," "DICO," "Emerson," "Frigidaire," "Maytag," "Nutone," "Partners Choice," "Rheem," "Ruud," "Unico," "Water Furnace," "Westinghouse," "White-Rodgers" or "Zonefirst." The thermostats have a battery door on the top left corner. There are three or four buttons to the right and also below the thermostat screen. Recalled thermostats do not show a battery icon on the left side of the blue lighted screen. Read more.


April 29, 2014 GE Brand Dehumidifiers by Midea Recalled for Repair Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Walmart

This recall involves 30-pint portable GE brand dehumidifiers. The dehumidifiers are white plastic and measure about 19 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 9 inches deep with a front-loading water bucket. "GE" and digital controls are located on top of the dehumidifier. Model, serial and manufacture dates are located on a label on the back of the dehumidifier. April 4, 2014 Hussong Manufacturing and American Flame Recall Three Gas Fireplaces, Fireplace Inserts Due to Explosion Hazard

This recall involves Hussong Manufacturing direct vent gas fireplaces and gas fireplace inserts that use American Flame brand main control modules. There are 22 models sold under the brand names Kozy Heat Fireplaces, Ambiance Fireplaces and Stellar Hearth Products. They were manufactured between October 2009 and April 2013. The fireplace name, model number, manufacture date and serial number are on a silver testing label attached by a chain and next to the gas valve. April 1, 2014 Dyson Recalls Bladeless Portable Electric Heaters Due to Fire Hazard

This recall is for all Dyson Hot heaters and Dyson Hot+Cool heaters having model number AM04 and all Dyson Hot+Cool heaters with model number AM05. The heaters are 23 inches tall with a round base and an upper body shaped like an elongated ring. The heaters have no external fan blades. They are made of plastic and were available in the colors silver, black and silver, blue and gray, gray and silver, pink and gray, purple and gray, and white and gray. Each heater came with a remote control. The model number is found above the Dyson logo on the product information sticker on the underside of the heater's base. Read more.


March 25, 2014 Centex Homes Recalls Solar Panels Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Open Energy 34 watt (OE-34) Solar Panel energy systems sold under the brand name Open Energy SolarSave Roofing Tiles. SolarSave panels replace conventional roof tiles and provide solar power to the building. This recall involves all brown, terracotta and gray OE-34 SolarSave roof tiles installed on new homes sold by Centex Homes ("Centex"). March 5, 2014 Twin-Star Recalls Duraflame Electric Space Heaters Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

This recall involves Duraflame-branded electric space heaters, model DFS-220, sold in three colors, black, red and white. The heater's flame effect resembles a fireplace and works with or without heat. The heaters measure about 14.5 inches high, 13 inches wide and 8 inches deep. The on-off switch and the high/low heat settings are located on the upper left back side of the unit. The Duraflame logo appears on the front of the unit. This recall involves 30, 40, 50, 65-pint dehumidifiers with the GE brand name. Recalled model numbers are listed below. January 15, 2014 Sears and Kmart Recall Kenmore Oscillating Fan Heaters Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

This recall involves Kenmore oscillating fan heaters with model number 127.90914310. The model number and Kenmore are printed on a silver sticker on the bottom of the unit. The fan heaters are gray and white, measure about 12 inches tall by 9 inches wide, have two dials at the top for temperature and fan speed and a red on-off button on the front base. January 9, 2014 New Yorker Boiler Recalls Home Heating Boilers Due to Carbon Monoxide Hazard

This recall involves New Yorker Boiler PVCGA model cast iron hot water boilers that use natural gas or liquid petroleum to heat water for residential space heating. The boilers are green in color, about 38 inches tall and about 26 inches deep and range from 11 to 30 inches wide. The front cover of the boiler is vented and has the New Yorker Boiler logo. Recalled boilers were manufactured between May 2012 and February 2013. The model number, serial number and manufacturing date are located on a silver label on the inside panel.
