September 3, 2014 Great Innovations Recalls Humidifiers Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively by QVC (Recall Alert)

This recall involves Air Innovations branded Ultrasonic Clean Mist humidifiers with mood lights. Model number MH-407 and date code MX1342, MX1343, MX1344, MX1344, MX1345 or MX1346 are printed on a label affixed to the underside of the humidifier. The recalled humidifiers are 15 inches high and were sold in four colors: black, silver, red and blue. A mood light button and the words "Air Innovations" are on the front of the one-gallon humidifiers. QVC item number V32459 is printed on the packing slip shipped with the humidifier. Read more.


August 27, 2014 Multi-Purpose Outdoor Shelters Recalled By Sunjoy Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at BJ's Wholesale Club (Recall Alert)

This recall includes the 10 ft. by 20 ft. multi-purpose shelter with "Code Number: L-GZ761PST." The code number is printed on a label sewn into the top of side panels of the canopy fabric. The fabric canopies are white and cover an area of about 20 ft. by 24 ft. "Sunjoy Industries" and "Made in China" are printed under the barcode label on the product packaging. Read more.


August 27, 2014 Goodman Company Recalls Air Conditioning and Heating Units Due to Burn and Fire Hazards

The recall involves Amana, Century, Comfort-Aire, Goodman and York International-branded Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps. The units are rated 230/208 volt, 3.5 kW and are most often installed in walls of hotels, motels, apartment buildings and commercial spaces to provide room climate control. The recalled units are beige with serial numbers ranging from 0701009633 through 0804272329. The brand name is located on the unit's front cover. The serial number is located on the control board plate found by lifting the unit's front cover. Read more.


August 21, 2014 SolarWorld Recalls Solar Systems with Copper Grounding Lugs Due to Electrocution, Electric Shock or Fire Hazard

This recall includes SolarWorld solar systems installed with bare-copper grounding lugs installed after June 1, 2010. These solar systems use energy from the sun to generate electricity within a system circuit. The installation instructions for SolarWorld solar systems sold after June 1, 2010 called for the use of GBL-4DB lugs for grounding. SolarWorld has revised these installation instructions to explicitly call for tin-coated lugs, specifically Ilsco part number GBL-4DBT. "T" is for tin-coated and indicated by the silver color of the lug. Read more.


August 21, 2014 WilliamsRDM Recalls StoveTop FireStop Microhood Due to Safety Hazard (Recall Alert)

The recalled product is the StoveTop FireStop Microhood. It is a flame activated, dry chemical powder, fire suppression device that mounts over a residential cooktop stove, underneath a microwave oven. The Microhood units are plastic/metal and come in black and white. They are about 14 inches long and 4 inches wide and 3 inches high. The recalled model numbers are 677-1 (black) and 677-2 (white) with a "Replace Before" date of June 2014 thru August 2019. This date is located on the bottom of each unit. Read more.


August 14, 2014 Vornado Air Recalls Electric Space Heaters Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

This recall involves Vornado VH110 Whole Room Vortex electric space heaters sold in two colors, black and white. The heaters measure about 10.5 inches high, 9 inches deep and 10.5 inches at the base growing narrower at the top. The on/off switch and the high/low heat settings are located on top of the unit. The Vornado logo appears with a gray "V" on the front of the unit. Recalled heaters have the numbers 1 and 3 as the fourth and fifth digits of the serial number. The model and serial numbers appear on a silver decal located on the bottom of the unit. Read more.


August 13, 2014 ESL, Interlogix Hard-Wired Smoke Alarms Recalled Due to Failure to Alert Consumers of a Fire

This recall involves thirty-three models of the 400 and 500 series Edwards (ESL)-branded and Interlogix smoke detectors hard-wired into a security system. Edwards and Interlogix smoke detectors are identical. The 2-wire or 4-wire detectors are round, white and measure 6 inches across by 2 inches high. The smoke detectors were made for professional installation and used primarily in commercial buildings, schools, hotels/motels, apartments, dormitories and homes as part of the fire alarm system. Recalled units have date codes 13084 through 14059 with the first two digits representing the year, for example: 13 for 2013 and 14 for 2014; and the last three digits representing the day of the year, for example: 084 is the 84th day of 2013, which is March 25, 2013. July 31, 2014 Harris Products Group Recalls Welding Torch Handles Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves two models of torch handles that were sold under the Lincoln Electric® and Harris Products Group® brand names. The torch handles are used in welding. They are gold in color and made out of brass. Welding torch model numbers include 18-5 and 85. Manufacture date codes include FM, GA, GB and GC. The model number and date code are stamped on the torch handle at the end closest to the flame. The torch handles were sold individually and also as part of the following kits. Units with "0" above the word "Harris" and to the right of the rivet head are not included in this recall. July 24, 2014 Metabo Recalls Electric Angle Grinders Due to Laceration Hazard

This recall involves Metabo W14-150 Ergo series 6-inch medium angle grinders. The angle grinders have a green body, a black and red handle, and a silver head and wheel guard. The grinders measure about 16 inches long by 4 inches wide by 5 inches deep, have a 6-inch wheel capacity and weigh about eight pounds. Metabo is printed on the handle and Metabo 14-150 Ergo is printed on the side of the grinder. The grinders are used for grinding and cutting metal. Model numbers include 06251421 and 06251441 and serial numbers include 3010000001 through 4020031488 for both models. The model and serial numbers are located on the rating plate on the right side of the tool. Read more.


July 2, 2014 Porter-Cable Fixed-Base Production Routers Recalled Due to Electrical Shock Hazard

Four Porter-Cable 3 1/4 horsepower, electric, fixed-base production routers and one production router base are being recalled. The recalled routers are about 11 inches tall and 7 inches wide. The top of the router motor is black plastic and has the on/off switch for the router. The base is painted gray and has two side handles, an adjuster ring on the top and a clamp screw on the rear. The side handles on the base of recalled routers have no insulation. The Porter-Cable name and logo are on the front of the base. The recalled routers and base were manufactured from 1990 to April 2014. The following router models are being recalled: Model Number Speed/Feature 7518 5-speed 7519 1-speed 7519EC 1-speed/has an extended chuck 22-7519-60 1-speed/ uses 220-volt power source The router model number and the manufacture date code are on a metal plate on the back of the upper motor housing. The date code consists of the year of manufacture, the week of manufacture and the manufacturing plant code in the YYYY WW-XX format. The router base is model number 75361 and is also sold separately. The model number is located on the side of the base opposite the Porter-Cable label. Read more.
