September 16, 2005 Robertshaw Controls Co. Recall of Gas Control Valves on Water Heaters

The R110 Gas Control Valves being recalled are installed on natural and liquid propane (LP) gas water heaters. The recalled valves were manufactured between July 25, 2005 and August 14, 2005 with production date codes 5-31 through and including 5-33, although not all valves with these date codes are affected. The recalled valves were installed on the following water heater brands: American Proline, Bradford White, GE, GSW, Hotpoint, Jetglas, John Wood, Lochinvar, Premier Plus, Powerflex, Rheem, Richmond, Ruud, Vanguard, Whirlpool, and U.S. Craftmaster. The model and serial number can be found on the manufacturer’s label on the water heater. Electric water heaters are not included. Read more.

September 8, 2005 The Coleman Company, Inc. Recall to Repair Coleman® Gas Grills and Patio Heaters

The recall includes Coleman® Gas Grills with model numbers 5100, 5300, 5400, 5600, 6000 and 7700, and Coleman® Patio Heater with model number 5040. The model name and number can be found directly on the front of the grills and on the inside cover of the heaters. Read more.

August 31, 2005 Tile Perfect Inc. Recall of Stand'n Seal Grout Sealer Due to Respiratory Problems

: The product is marketed under the brand name of Tile Perfect™ Stand'n Seal "Spray-On" Grout Sealer. The date/lot codes are printed on the bottom of the can. All cans with date/lot codes starting with the following six digits are included in the recall: A20985; A30985; A10995; A20995; A30995; A11015; A21015; A31015; A11025; A21445; A31445; A11455; A21455; A31455; A11465; A21465. August 16, 2005 JS Products and Mac Tools Recall of Cordless Drill/Drivers

The recall involves certain MAC-brand 14.4 Volt and 18.0 Volt 3/8-inch drive cordless drill/drivers. The 14.4 Volt units have part number CDD14438 or CDD14438-Kit and the 18.0 Volt units have Part Number CDD18012 or CDD18012-KIT. The part number can be found on the side of the drill near the logo. August 11, 2005 The Holmes Group Recall of Tower Heater Fans

The recall involves Holmes® models HFH6498-U, HFH6500-U and HFH6500TG-U and Bionaire® model BFH3530-U. The recalled heaters also have date codes beginning with 2604 through 3804 for all units, except for Holmes® model 6500TG-U, which has date codes ranging from 2604 through 4704. The model and date code can be found on the silver label on the back of the unit. The heater fans are 26 inches tall; come in all gray, two-tone gray, or black and gray; and have either the word Holmes® or Bionaire® printed on the front of the base. Read more.

August 2, 2005 DESA Heating Products Recall of Compact Gas Fireplaces

The recall includes DESA Heating Products 10,000 Btu Thermostatically Controlled Compact Classic Hearth Fireplaces that burn propane or natural gas. They have the following model names and number: Vanguard (VMH10TPC & VMH10TNC) and FMI (EFS10TPA & EFS10TNA). They have serial numbers between 015200000 and 017400000. The model and serial numbers are on the end of the shipping carton and on the model data tags inside the lower access door of the compact fireplaces. Read more.

July 26, 2005 Kidde Recall of Industrial Fire Extinguishers

This Alert involves all Kidde 10 lb. dry chemical fire extinguishers manufactured with a black plastic Zytel® nylon valve assembly and a steel cylinder between 1991 and 2000. These units were the subject of Kidde Service Bulletin 007 issued on July 21, 2004. These units were designed for commercial and industrial applications, and the majority of these units were placed into service in factories, plants, businesses and other commercial locations as they require service by a qualified Fire Extinguisher Distributor or Service Organization every 6 years. Some of these units are in use in residential settings. The affected extinguishers have a steel cylinder with a welded neck ring and are between 19 to 21 inches tall as depicted in the image below. This Alert does not apply to Kidde’s smaller 2 1/2 and 5 lb. residential fire extinguishers. Read more.
