February 13, 2007 Battery Packs for Toy Vehicles Recalled by JAKKS Pacific Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves battery packs used with FLY WHEELS XPV toy vehicles. The battery packs were sold with a charger (item number 73904) and with the radio-controlled XPV toy (item number 73906). Item numbers are printed on the product's packaging above the barcode label. The batteries are marked "Fly Wheelz," "XPV," and "JAKKS Pacific," "Lithium-ion Polymer battery (LiPo)" followed by a list of warnings and precautions. The XPV Xtreme Performance Vehicle is not the subject of this exchange program. Read more.


February 6, 2007 Easy-Bake Ovens Recalled for Repair Due to Entrapment and Burn Hazards

The Easy-Bake Oven is a purple and pink plastic oven that resembles a kitchen range with four burners on top and a front-loading oven. "Easy Bake" is printed on the front of the oven. Model number 65805 and "Hasbro" are stamped into the plastic on the back of the oven. The Easy Bake Oven is an electric toy and is not recommended for children under eight years of age. Ovens sold before May 2006 are not included in this recall. Read more.


January 18, 2007 Geometix International LLC Recalls MagneBlocks™ Toys, Ingested Magnets Pose Aspiration and Intestinal Hazards

All types of MagneBlocks™ construction sets are included in this recall. The sets contain six or more plastic building pieces and six or more 1/2-inch diameter steel balls. Some sets include steel rods. The building pieces are various colors and are shaped in 1 1/2-inch cubes and three-, four-, and five-sided pyramids. The plastic building pieces have “MagneBlocks™” imprinted on them. Read more.


January 18, 2007 Target Recalls Baby Rattles and Ornaments for Choking Hazard

This recall involves plush rattles and frame ornaments sold in the "See. Spot. Save." department of Target stores. The two styles of rattles include a pink bear and a green moose. The plush animals either have a rattle inside or a plastic ring attached. The photo frame ornaments are a pink bear or green moose holding either a square or heart-shaped frame. Read more.


December 19, 2006 Celebrate Express Inc. Recalls Gigantic Gemstone Ring Party Favors Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard

The recalled children's Gigantic Gemstone Ring toy is a silver-colored metallic ring with a large plastic gemstone. The gemstone colors include: blue, red, purple, green and clear. The rings were sold individually and as part of various party favor, costume and heirloom sets. Read more.


December 19, 2006 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Recalls Christmas Mug Gift Sets

The gift sets include a decorated ceramic mug and a stuffed Santa, snowman, or reindeer.  The stuffed characters measure 7-inches tall and are made of fleece-like material.  Two red and green buttons are sewn down the front of the characters.  “©DanDee™ COLLECTOR’S CHOICE®” and the product’s UPC number are printed on the character’s sewn-in labels.  UPC numbers are as follows: Santa 0 47475 45419 8, Snowman 0 47475 45429 7, Reindeer 0 47475 45439 6.  “Holiday Time™” is printed on the character’s hang tag.  The mug comes in three designs and measures 6-inches tall.  The designs include a Santa with green background, a snowman with blue background, and a Christmas tree with green background.   Read more.


December 18, 2006 Remote-Control Helicopter Toys Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

The recalled toy helicopters are remote-controlled lightweight plastic toy helicopters. The helicopter is sold with a control unit, a charger and rechargeable batteries in the body of the toy. The body of the helicopter measures about 13 inches in length and the rotor diameter is about 10 inches. The helicopter is yellow and red with green rotors. The helicopter has a label on the front that reads "Champion HX242 Electric Power Helicopter." Read more.


December 15, 2006 Nintendo of America Initiates Replacement Program for Wrist Straps Used with Controllers for the Wii Video Game System

The wrist straps are sold with Nintendo's Wii video game system (pronounced "we"). Its controller, called the Wii Remote, is shaped like a TV remote. Sensors determine the Wii Remote's position in 3-D space, which means that a tennis swing, for example, is done through movement of a consumer's hand rather than by just fingers and thumbs. The cords on the wrist straps included in this program are 0.6mm in diameter. The replacement cords are 1.0 mm in diameter (see photo below). Read more.


December 14, 2006 Wal-Mart Recalls Stuffed Christmas Beagles Due to Choking Hazard

The stuffed animal is a brown and white beagle with a red scarf and Santa hat trimmed in red and white stripes. A green wreath with red pompoms is attached near the beagle’s mouth. The stuffed beagle measures 7-inches tall and 5-inches long. “Marketed by WAL-MART STORES, INC” and UPC number “8 85271 90780 3” are printed on the dog’s sewn-in labels. “Holiday Time™” is printed on the animal’s hang tag. December 13, 2006 BRIO Corp. Recalls Bell Rattles for Choking Hazard

This recall involves wooden rattles with six-multi-colored slats used to connect the two, red round ends. A metal bell is contained within the slats. The rattles measure 2 1/2-inches in diameter by 2 1/2-inches in height. The name BRIO appears on one of the wooden sides. Read more.
