Announce Recall of Tree Climbers WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the manufacturers named below, today announced voluntary recalls of the following consumer products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of product: BBK 10010 Tree Climbers Units: 630 Importer: BBK Enterprises Inc., of San Antonio, Texas Hazard: The steel back brace on the tree climber can weaken and fail, posing a serious injury hazard to the user. Incidents/Injuries: No incidents have been reported. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. Description: The recalled BBK Tree Climbers have a model number of BBK 10010, which can be found on the outside of the box. The climber, which is primarily used by hunters, has a 2-piece climbing stand with a green powder coat finish, a camouflage padded seat and an expanded metal platform. A yellow warning label on the climber has BBK’s name, address, and phone number printed on it. Sold at: Hunting gear retailers and distributors nationwide, including Mattoon Rural King Supply, Johnston Seed, Everharts Sporting Goods and Sportsradein, sold the tree climbers between August 2003 and October 2003 for about $90. The recalled units were also sold on the BBK Enterprises Web site: www.bbkhuntingsystems.com. Manufactured in: China. Remedy: Consumers should stop using these climbers immediately and call BBK or the retail store to return the units and receive reimbursement. CPSC, Ol' Man Treestands Announce Recall of Hunting Tree Stands The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Name of Product: Tree Stands for Hunters Units: 1,775 Manufacturer: Ol' Man Treestands, of Hattiesburg, Miss., a division of L & L Enterprises, Inc. Hazard: A serrated blade that supports the stand on a tree can bend, posing the risk of falls and serious injuries to hunters. Incidents/Injuries: Ol' Man Treestands has received five reports of serrated blades bending, but no reports of injuries. Description: The climbing tree stands included in this recall are the Original Ol' Man Double X with model number OMDX-MO, Grand Ol' Man Double X with model number GOMDX-MO, Multi-Vision with model number MV- MO, and Grand Multi-Vision with Model number GMV-MO. All units have Warning labels affixed to the stands varying in weight capacities of 250 lbs to 350 lbs. The bottom platform of each tree stand has a lot number stamped on the serrated blades that would indicate when it was produced. Only tree stands having the number 1903 or 2103 stamped on the blades of the stand bottom are included in the recall. The stands have a mesh net seat and are painted green. Sold At: Hunting supply stores, Web sites and catalogs nationwide from June 2003 through November 2003 for between $160 and $270. Manufactured In: China. Remedy: Consumers should stop using these treestands with 1903 and 2103 stamping on the blades immediately, and discard or destroy the product. WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), API Outdoors of Tallulah, La., a division of Outland Sports Inc., of Overland Park, Kan., is voluntarily recalling about 9,000 treestands used by hunters. A cable that secures the treestand to the tree can break, posing the risk of falls and serious injuries to hunters. API Outdoors has received two reports of the treestand's cable breaking, including one person who fell from a tree and suffered leg abrasions. The recalled treestands have the following brand names and model numbers: API Hi-Point Cable Cat Climbing Treestand, Model #CC501 and API Buckmaster Grand Slam Climbing Treestand, Model #GS3800BM. The treestands have an olive green frame, camo seats and seatbacks with black nylon cinch straps, and a yellow "WARNING" or "DANGER" label that reads in part, "Safety Restraint Must Be Used At All Times." The treestands are manufactured in Tallulah, La. Retailers and distributors nationwide, including Wal-Mart, sold the Cable Cat treestands through mid-October 2002 for about $180 and Cabelas stores nationwide sold the Buckmaster treestands through mid- October 2002 for about $230. The buckles on the climbing sticks and tree steps can fail, posing a risk of serious injury to hunters. Game Tracker and CPSC have received 16 reports of buckles failing, including one hunter who suffered a partial finger amputation and five others who suffered cuts, sprains, and bruises. The recalled Gorilla Ultralite Climbing Sticks, model number 3163, have the serial numbers 040501, 050501, and 060801, printed on the main brace of the stick. The climbing sticks come in three to a package, are gray in color, have black swivel fold down foot pegs, and a black strap and buckle system. The recalled Strap-on Tree Steps, model numbers 3152 and 3153, have serial number 2899 stamped on the side of the metal step. The tree steps have a black strap, with a metal J hook, black buckle, and a metal step. Hunting supply stores and catalogs nationwide sold these climbing sticks and tree steps from February 1999 through September 2001 for between $7 and $100 Consumers should stop using these climbing sticks and tree steps immediately. Announce Recall of Hunting Treestands WASHINGTON, D.C.- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hunter's View Ltd., of Peoria, Ill., is voluntarily Recalling about 30,000 treestands used by hunters. The cables on these stands can break, causing the treestand to fall to the ground, posing an injury hazard to consumers. Hunter's View has not received any reports of injuries. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. The recalled treestands weigh between 16 and 22 lbs., are made of Aluminum and steel, and have a platform and padded seat cushion. The stands are attached to a tree and provide hunters with an elevated view of potential game. The models involved in the recall are the HVTS-100 Wildcat, HVTS-101 Wildcat with camo seat, HVTS-102 Wildcat Comfort Zone, HVTS-104 Wildcat Swivel Seat, HVTS-300 Big Daddy, HVTS-302 Big Daddy Comfort Zone, HVTS-400 Big Horn Ram, HVTS-402 Hoot Owl, HVTS-500 Timber Ghost, HVATS-3000 Big Daddy Lite, and HVATS-4020 Comfort Zone Swivel Seat. A yellow label on the treestand reads, "Hunter's View Ltd., 1-888-878-0440." Hunting and sporting goods stores and catalogs nationwide, sold the treestands from March 2001 through August 2001 for between $50 and $150. Consumers should stop using the treestands immediately and contact Hunter's View for a free repair.
