August 21, 2007 Hampton Direct Recalls Magnetic Toy Train Sets Due to Lead Exposure Risk

This recall involves Magnetic Alphabet and Number train sets. The train sets include a wooden engine, caboose, letters and numbers. The miniature train sets are sold in a rainbow of colors and have either a letter or number attached to the top of a base with four wooden wheels. The alphabet train set contains 28 pieces, and the number train set contains 12 pieces. Each car in the train set is 2 ½ x 2 ½ x 2 inches in size. Read more.


August 14, 2007 Additional Reports of Magnets Detaching from Polly Pocket Play Sets Prompts Expanded Recall by Mattel

The recalled Polly Pocket play sets contain plastic dolls and accessories that have small magnets. The magnets measure 1/8 inch in diameter and are embedded in the hands and feet of some dolls, and in the plastic clothing, hairpieces and other accessories to help the pieces attach to the doll or to the doll’s house. The model number is printed on the bottom of the largest pieces on some of the play sets. Products manufactured after November 1, 2006 and are currently on store shelves are not included in this recall. Contact Mattel if you cannot find a model number on your product to determine if it is part of the recall. Read more.

August 14, 2007 Mattel Recalls Barbie and Tanner™ Magnetic Toys Due to Magnets Coming Loose

The recall involves Barbie and Tanner™ play sets -- model numbers J9472 and J9560. The toys include a “scooper” accessory with a magnetic end. Recalled scoopers have a visible, silver-colored, disc-shaped magnet on the end of the scooper. Scoopers with a white material covering the magnet and products manufactured after January 31, 2007 are not recalled. Read more.


August 14, 2007 Mattel Recalls "Sarge" Die Cast Toy Cars Due To Violation of Lead Safety Standard

The recall involves die cast “Sarge” 2 ½ inch toy cars. The toy looks like a military jeep and measures about 2 ½ inches long by 1 inch high by 1 inch wide. The recalled toy has the markings “7EA” and “China” on the bottom. The “Sarge” toy car is sold alone or in a package of two, and may have the product number M1253 (for single cars) and K5925 (for cars sold as a set) printed on the packaging. August 8, 2007 Stübben Steeltec Horseback Riding Stirrups Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

The recalled stirrups are attached by straps to a saddle and are used by horseback riders to help them mount a horse or for support while riding. They are made of stainless steel and have a hinge on each side. "Stübben STEELtec" is printed on the stirrups. They were sold in three sizes: 4 ½", 4 ¾", and 5". Read more.



August 3, 2007 Window Blinds Sold Exclusively at Lowe's Stores Recalled for Repair by Springs Window Fashions Due to Strangulation Hazard

This recall involves two inch Natural Faux Wood Plantation Blinds sold under the Basic Blindz® brand. The blinds have a yellow steel top rail, also called the head rail, a cord tilter on the left side (to tilt the slats open or closed), and a double pull cord that meets at a cord connector and ends in a single cord on the right side (to raise and lower the blinds). Stickers inside the top rail state: "Springs Window Fashion LLC, Middleton, WI 53562," "Made in China," and "Manufacturing Date Code." Blinds with manufacturing date codes JX, JY, JZ, KO, KP, KQ, KR, KS, and KT are included in the recall. Read more.


August 3, 2007 Sandal Clogs Recalled by Hanna Andersson Due to Fall Hazard

The recalled sandals have a birchwood sole and leather straps. They come in different colors (blue, pink and black) and were sold in European sizes 25-41. The bottom of the wooden sole has rubber grips. The words "Hanna Andersson" and "Made in Sweden" are printed on the sole. Read more.
