February 29, 2012 Twin Oaks Recalls Hammock Stands Due to Fall Hazard

This recall involves hammock stands made from steel pipe and sold in green and black under the Twin Oaks brand. The hammock stands are used with all Twin Oaks double and family-sized rope hammocks, as well as all Twin Oaks fabric hammocks. Model number 14015 (green) or 14016 (black) is printed on the instruction materials included with the stand. Read more.


November 10, 2011 Joss Rock Climbing Cam Units Recalled by Sierra Trading Post Due to a Fall Hazard; Sold Exclusively by Sierra Trading Post

The Joss Cam is a mechanical device placed in the crack of a rock to support a climber's weight. The Cam is operated by a trigger that retracts the aluminum lobes, allowing the device to be placed and secured in the crack of a rock. A cable is attached to the device with a heavy duty nylon sling attached to the end of the cable. Joss Cams come in eight sizes and each Cam is marked with the size (.5 to 4). The sling on the end features solid horizontal blocks of color (yellow, orange, purple, red, green and blue) indicating size. The "Cassin" logo is also printed on a tag attached to the sling. October 6, 2011 IKEA Recalls Children's Folding Tent Due to Laceration and Puncture Hazards

This recall involves a cube-shaped children’s folding tent with model number 90192009. The brand name BUSA and IKEA and the model number are printed on a sewn-in label attached to an interior seam in the tent. The tent frame is made of flat steel wire and the tent material is pale green polyester fabric with turquoise, pink and white trim. The tent’s dimensions are: L 28 1/4, W 28 1/4, H 28 1/4. August 30, 2011 Petzl America Recalls Belay Devices Due to Fall Hazard

The GRIGRI 2 belay device is used by rock climbers to control the climber's safety rope during a fall or while being lowered on the rope. The first five digits of the serial numbers of devices affected by this recall range from 10326 to 11136. The serial number is engraved on the body of the product underneath and protected by the folded handle. The belay devices are 4 inches in length and 2 inches in width, and come in grey, blue, and orange colors. Read more.


August 18, 2011 C. O. Lynch Enterprises Inc. Recalls Itasca Fusion Hiker Boots Due to Foot Injury Hazard

Itasca men's shoes sizes 7 to 14 with the model name Fusion Hikers are being recalled. The model name Fusion, style number 45513 and order numbers 22215, 22216 or 22217 are printed on a label on the underside of the tongue. The word Itasca and the Itasca logo are embossed on the top of the tongue of the shoe and are also imprinted on the removable insole. The shoe is black with leather and nylon upper and a thermoplastic rubber (TPR) outsole. "Steel Toe" is printed on a tag on the outside of the shoe. Read more.

April 21, 2011 Photon Climbing Carabiners and Quickdraws Recalled Due to Risk of Injury

The Photon model carabiners are used by climbers as connectors and are sold individually or as components of the Photon Express and Mach Express quickdraw used as extenders to anchor a climber. The carabiners were sold in a variety of colors including green, yellow, silver and brown. The quickdraws use a white or black fabric strap with green, yellow or gray stitching and Photon carabiners attached at each end. Read more.


January 5, 2011 Avalung Backpacks Recalled by Black Diamond Equipment Due to Suffocation Hazard

This recall involves the following Black Diamond 2010 Avalung backpacks (see chart below). These backpacks have an air intake system that the company states extracts air from the snow, allowing the victim of an avalanche to breathe while buried under the snow. The model name and color are printed on the side of the backpack. The PO number is printed on a white label inside the backpack. Read more.


November 23, 2010 L.L.Bean Recalls Folding Camp Rockers Due to Fall Hazard

This recall involves L.L.Bean folding camp rockers with a fabric cover and a steel frame. The rockers have a fabric/mesh seat and back and a cup holder on the right armrest. "L.L.Bean" is printed on the seat back. Rockers with the number RNR113 and RNR114 listed on the white tag under the seat are included in the recall. Folding camp rockers with fabric anchors are not included in this recall. Read more.


November 22, 2010 Camping Stoves and Equipment Recalled by Katadyn North America Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves Optimus Nova and Nova+ camping stoves and equipment, including the stove's fuel pump and spare parts/repair kits. The stoves are black metal, measure about 6 inches in diameter and 3 ½ inches high and can be used with multiple types of fuel. Stove serial numbers QA000011 through QA007313 are included in this recall. The serial number and "Optimus" are printed on the side of the camping stove. Pumps and spare parts kits also were sold separately. Pumps have a green open/close valve. Spare parts kits model numbers include 80163051, 8520, 80176321 and 8511 and are printed on the packaging.
